Become a Site
Literacy*AmeriCorps Pittsburgh and Compass are accepting proposals for community organizations to host full-time AmeriCorps members from September 2011 to August 2012. Please contact MaryRose Walko at mwalko@gplc.org to request an application. Service site applications must be submitted by March 25, 2011 for prospective Literacy*AmeriCorps sites, and April 15, 2011 for potential Compass AmeriCorps sites.
Literacy*AmeriCorps Pittsburgh and Compass AmeriCorps members are placed at local nonprofit organizations. Members provide additional programmatic support by offering more classes, increasing access to tutoring, or by extending the reach of an existing program. The member position must work toward the performance measures outlined in the service site RFP.
Service sites provide training, daily supervision, and at least 37 hours of meaningful service per week for the member. Sites are also required to provide a match fee per Compass AmeriCorps or Literacy*AmeriCorps member.
Compass AmeriCorps and Literacy*AmeriCorps service sites are chosen through an application process each spring. The program coordinator is available to meet with prospective service sites to answer questions about the process and experience of hosting an AmeriCorps member.
