What can a gift to Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council do?
$50 can allow one student to take the GED exam.
$100 can buy books for three students.
$500 can provide a student with 30 hours of one-on-one instruction.
$1,000 can train six tutors who in turn may teach many students.
Your tax-deductible gift will be put to work immediately to help our students reach their goals. A full 88 cents of each donated dollar goes directly to help our students.

Monthly Gift Plan
We invite you to consider setting up a monthly gift plan. This is an efficient and convenient way to provide meaningful support for Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council’s students. You may choose this option when making an on-line donation or you may make arrangements through the Development Office by calling (412) 661-7323 x119.
Gifts of Stock/Securities
A gift of appreciated stock held for more than one year can yield significant tax benefits. You receive an immediate tax deduction for the fair market value of your stock on the date of the gift, and you may also avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation above the stock’s initial costs. For more information on making a stock gift to GPLC, contact Maria Polinsky, Director of Development, at (412) 661-7323 x108.
Corporate Matching Gifts
Be sure to check with your employer to see if they will match your gift to Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council. Some companies will also match the gifts of spouses and retirees. This can double or even triple your contribution to GPLC. For more information, contact your company’s human resources director or community relations office.
