Become a National Site

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council is the parent organization that administers the Literacy*AmeriCorps program, assuming fiscal and programmatic responsibilities. GPLC partners with several non-profit organizations (operating sites) throughout the country, which manage the members and place them in service. The application process to become an operating site is open and competitive.

Any public sector or nonprofit entity (including schools and faith-based mentoring initiatives) is eligible to apply to participate in this program.

All selected sites must comply with AmeriCorps federal regulations, reporting requirements, and participate in training and ongoing monitoring activities as outlined by the program. A financial match is also required. As the parent organization, GPLC provides training, oversight, and support.

Interested organizations should submit a letter of inquiry.
