AmeriCorps is a national service program that mobilizes volunteers to take action in their communities. Members of Compass AmeriCorps, a PennSERVE program managed by GPLC, provide social services support and English instruction to newly resettled refugees in Pittsburgh. Members also recruit community volunteers, participate in service projects, and help strengthen refugee resettlement and literacy organizations.
AmeriCorps members improve their communities while receiving many benefits themselves, such as a modest living allowance, money for school, training and professional development, and a sense of accomplishment.
Your participation in this program can be a life-changing experience. Please read on to learn more.
