Compass AmeriCorps

Compass AmeriCorps is a state program funded by PennSERVE, the governor's commission on service and is managed locally by Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council.

Members of Compass AmeriCorps, a PennSERVE program, provide wrap-around social services support and English instruction to immigrants, internationals, and newly resettled refugees in Pittsburgh. Members also recruit community volunteers, participate in service projects, and help strengthen refugee resettlement and literacy organizations.

AmeriCorps members improve their communities while receiving many benefits themselves, such as a modest living allowance, money for school, training and professional development, and a sense of accomplishment.

Your participation in this program can be a life-changing experience. Please read on to learn more.

As you’ll discover, we get things done.
